VerticalAir Training Products

We have used our years of experience of working with groups to design and build a range of innovative training products for any trainer to use in their programmes. We use them ourselves and each product comes with all the equipment that you need to run the exercise plus detailed instructions on how to set up, run and review the activity.

The equipment for each activity is contained in a purpose built heavy duty carrying case for ease of transportation anywhere in the world. These cases look good and protect the equipment from the trials of transportation wherever you decide to conduct your training event. No product is too large to travel as hold luggage in airplanes or to fit into the boot of a normal car.

All these activities are designed to allow the trainer to draw out the best from the experiences gained. Experiential activities are powerful learning tools that accelerate individual and team learning. Used individually or in a progressive learning cycle these tasks can provide a valuable asset to any training programme.

Feely Bag

Participants must describe what’s in the bag by feel alone in order to discover which of shape of the set is missing. A fantastic team exercise that highlights the real issues behind what makes effective communication and is great fun and highly inclusive for all participants.

Interlocking

A complex plan of interlocking pieces, up to three teams compete to complete their structure in the fastest time. The first stage is to understand how the pieces go together, only then can the team work on refining a process to build them quickly. Once that is done then the exercise can focus on speed quality or just good old competition with another group!

Mirror Image

Mirror image is a large cube building exercise with a twist. The cube comes with plan drawings of how the final product should look and at the same time the group must build an exact mirror image copy of the cube! Guaranteed to have your participants scratching their heads for a while.

Tower Of Hanoi

The Tower of Hanoi requires logical thinking, leadership and lots of running about to move the coloured squares from one point to another ... at no time can a larger square be placed on top of a smaller one and only one square can be moving at a time. On the face of it a very simple exercise - until you try it!

Trackball

Trackball requires three groups to deliver a specific weight of marbles to a set of scales. The teams may only use a freestanding structure of pipes and tubes to deliver their marbles to a central collection area. The question is “Are the teams in competition or should they share their resources?

Helicopter

An engineering task to build a complex model helicopter. The master model is in a separate room and the teams must choose a building strategy - do they have as many visits as they want but get penalised for re-constructing any part of their model or do they restrict the number of times they can see the master but can deconstruct as often as they like?

Didgit Dodge

Didgit Dodge requires clear and effective planning, monitoring, and coordination to ensure success. The task is for the team to work together to touch ascending numbers inside a designated area in as fast a time as possible. A great way to unlock the essentials of process improvement. The ability to count to 24 is a distinct advantage!

Identishape

This is a highly complex communication exercise. The team is split into three groups, which are remote from each other. Two of the teams communicate through the third team using different channels on a walkie-talkie. The task is to relay information to build a series of simple shapes. One team has the pieces, one team has the overview and one team has the plans.

Spiders Web

A portable stretchy version of the classic Spiders Web exercise. Can be hung from trees, poles or beams inside or out. The web is 4 metres across and 3 high and stretches to approximately 5 metres across by 4 metres high. There are 15 usable holes; it comes in a stuff sac for ease of carrying.

Mantis

Return to medieval times by building working Trebuchets! At one time these fearsome weapons reigned terror on castles across Europe - now they reign terror on conference venues across the world! A simple design allows teams to build a firing trebuchet that can launch tennis balls up to 20 metres! Fantastic fun, especially when competing against other teams, its also a complex task in its own right.

Tangram

A communication and leadership exercise that requires one person to describe the plans for a shape to his or her group. The shapes that are described are increasingly complicated. Incredibly simple but powerful exercise that shows the power of clear effective communication.
